Mike Patton, one of the most prolific artists of our time, will perform on 22 July 2010 at the Era New Horizons festival in Wrocław with the project Mondo Cane. The concert at Wyspa Słodowa will start the artist's European tour which promotes his latest album Mondo Cane (Ipecac Recordings, premiere on 4 May 2010). The Wrocław performance will be the only one in Poland.

The name Mondo Cane is a reference to the title of a controversial documentary of 1962 and is quite a specific project, which doesn't present original material. It includes only covers of Italian songs of the 1950s and 1960s. The vocalist is accompanied on stage by a classical orchestra, a small choir and other artists. Mike Patton performs in Italian, singing new versions of old songs. The vocal parts are enriched with electronic sounds and vocal experiments, so typical for him. He says of it: Rearrangement of these sounds is not a glorification of the past; this is rather a chance to present the essence and importance of this music in a new orchestration. The whole undertaking was supervised by the Italian film music composer, Daniele Luppi, who supported Patton.

Mike Patton will perform on Wyspa Słodowa with a group of seven musicians, 3-person choir and 12 Polish musicians of the Wrocław Film Harmony Orchestra.

The repertoire - selected specifically for this project - will include more than 20 songs: from the manifesto of pop music - Urlo negro, to love songs such as Senza fine, or funny verses like Pinne, fucile ed occhiali. Patton will also sing O Venezia by Nino Rota, Dio come ti amo by Domenico Modugno, Storia d`amore by Adriano Celentano. He will present the new version of Ennio Morricone's Deep Down from the iconic film Danger: Diabolik of 1968 directed by Mario Bavy.

Mike Patton is the vocalist from the famous Faith No More, founder of Mr. Bungle, initiator of such projects as Fantômas, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom. He has worked with many musicians and bands, including John Zorn, Sepultura, Melvins, Björk, Fennesz and Serge Gainsboug. He has also made several soundtracks for films, e.g. A Perfect Place of 2008.

The co-organiser and main partner of the concert is Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa, operator of the ERA network.
