We are happy to inform you that the Era New Horizons International Film Festival received the "International Film Event of 2009" Award from the Polish Film Institute.

The winners were announced at a gala ceremony during the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.

The award was presented to the festival's director Roman Gutek.

The other nominees in the same category were: Warsaw International FilmFest, "Two Riversides" Film and Art Festival and "Kino na granicy" / "Kino na hranici" film review.

The Polish Film Institute's Awards are awarded for the third time to honour persons and institutions, who contribute the most to development, promotion and publicity of film art in Poland. The winners are selected by the 11-person committee made out of key representatives of the film industry.

For 10 years, the ERA NEW HORIZONS in Wrocław has been consistently presenting unconventional original cinema - films that search for a new language, interesting forms and subjects normally absent from mainstream productions. For years, the film repertoire has been also a pretext and inspiration to discover new horizons in other fields of art, too. The festival's associated events - expositions and installations, performances and concerts, lectures and workshops add to a coherent and multi-disciplinary artistic offer.

ERA NEW HORIZONS is the biggest film festival in Poland: last year we presented more than 540 films (240 features) and 120 of them had their Polish premiere at the festival. All festival screenings were watched by 122.000 people.
